PENNCO HISTORY
1961, the School of
Electronics was founded in Philadelphia by the Philco
Corporation. In 1966 the Ford Motor Company, through its
subsidiary, Philco-Ford, established the School of
Automotive Technology, also in Philadelphia. In 1973, these
two schools were acquired by Pennco Institutes, Inc.., a
Pennsylvania corporation.
1975, the School of
Electronics and the School of Automotive Technology moved to
Bristol, Pennsylvania, and consolidated as Pennco Tech. In
1978, a School of Automotive Body Repair was established in
Bristol and an additional Pennco Tech facility was opened in
Pennsauken, New Jersey, consisting of a School of Automotive
Technology and a School of Automotive Body Repair.
1983, Diesel/Truck Technology was added in Pennsauken,
New Jersey
1984, the Pennsauken operations were moved to a larger
facility in Blackwood, New Jersey. Electronics and Computer
Programming programs were also added.
The following were added at both the Bristol,
Pennsylvania and Blackwood, New Jersey facilities:
- 1984 Electro-Mechanical/CAD Drafting
- Mechanical/CAD Drafting
- Electronic/CAD Drafting
- Computer Aided Design and Drafting
- 1988 Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Heating
- 1991 Medical Secretary
- 1992 Advanced Computer-Aided Design and Drafting
1992, the Bristol, Pennsylvania Student Services
Department was expanded to include a state licensed on-site
childcare facility available to Pennco Tech students and the
general public.
1995, Marine and Marine Diesel Technician programs
were added in Blackwood, New Jersey.
1997, the Blackwood, New Jersey facility expanded its
operations acquiring an additional 46,708 square foot
facility on 5.3 acres of land to support the Marine
programs.
2000, both the Bristol, Pennsylvania and the
Blackwood, New Jersey facilities added Computer Networking with A+ and Network+.
2001, the Bristol,
Pennsylvania facility added a Pharmacy Technician program.
2003. the Bristol
Campus upgraded the Auto and Auto Body programs to Associate in Specialized Technology
Degree Programs which include an Applied General Education Course.
2003, the
Bristol Campus added the Electrician program.
2007, the
Bristol Campus added Childcare and Plumbing programs.
